Sophia Sosa

Sophia 'Sosa' Laurio is a Filipina interdisciplinary artist based on the unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations ("Vancouver"). A versatile movement artist, she explores styles including Hip Hop, House, Waacking, Locking, Afro-Dancehall, and Contemporary dance. Sophia is the founder of Barangay Project Society, a nonprofit arts hub promoting inclusivity and diversity by creating safe spaces for youth and marginalized communities locally and internationally. The organization offers free dance workshops, mentorships, and festivals, while providing platforms for local BIPOC artists in Vancouver to share, connect, and express through movement and community.
