Nalule

Yana Kalanzi aka Nalule (nah-lou-leh) is a multidisciplinary artist and curator who is based on the unceded and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tseil-Waututh) peoples, "Vancouver". She oscillates between a myriad of different artistic practices ranging from: electronic sound production, live musical sets, painting ,visual artistry and the revitalization of traditional East African beadworking. In her electronic project," Nalule" she is recognized for her creative blends, high energy sets that are highly syncopated, dynamic and emotive meant to enchant listeners as they are taken on a transcendental ride. Her bass laced sets are influenced by her ancestral spiritual practices and plant medicine. Her sets span from UK bass, jungle, dub, global club, leftfield techno and breaks. Yana intends on launching a new project next year, Lotus.Inc that explores live PA musical production, singing, songwriting and VJing as an additional medium to her artistic practice to explore themes of mysticism, folklore, divine sensuality and esoterism. Her new project will be influenced by black rave culture, UK club genres and sonic renditions from the Global South.
