Details
On November 3rd, join Flora Yin-Wong, London-based, Chinese-Malaysian producer, DJ, writer, and founder of experimental label and imprint Doyenne, on a creative writing and book-binding workshop. Workshop attendees will leave with a special physical artefact, a hand-bound book to memorialize their experience.
Using symbolism and metaphor, the workshop will be a guided mantra and meditation ceremony led by indirect hypnosis, themed around dreams and nightmares as a way of tapping into the room's collective unconscious. This will form the basis for a creative brain-storming session for writing or sketching which will then be presented in a simple hand-bookbinding class.
‘Often called “indirect hypnosis,” this technique typically uses stories and allegories instead of direct hypnotic suggestions. These stories help the unconscious mind deliver solutions on its own.’
The Collective Unconscious, also known as the Universal or Deep Mind, contains the energetic blueprint experienced by all of life. This often refers to the typical archetypes - recurring themes which resonate across cultures and religions. Many religious groups such as Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian monks have utilised mantra-chanting as a way of altering their consciousness. This will tie into Flora Yin-Wong's live show at Fountains: Series II Showcase on November 2nd.
All materials will be provided, alongside light refreshments & tea and will be hosted at Atelier 254, November 3rd, on day two of Fountains: Series II Symposium between 4-6pm. Our suggested cost of the workshop to cover the workshop costs is $30. We offer tiered ticketing for those who face financial barriers in trust that our community will support us as they are able.
